Here's the code to fix it: To fix the being stuck on DirectX 8 bug, simpley right click on either Ep1 or Ep2 in your Steam game library, then go to the properties which is at the bottom of the list, once in the properties, go to the "Set Launch Options," in the box type or copy/paste this cheat down, +mat_dxlevel 90.
I was missing a few in HL2 and ep1, but I managed to get 22/22 achievements in ep2 back between 2007 and 2010. I now have all of the cheevos in hl2 and ep1, but I can't seem to get Gnome Alone to unlock. The guides all say "start the game and get the achievment" but I've had no dice with that so far. I dunno what I have to do.
It's not fun with bots. The gnome appears in the second chapter of dark carnival, get a high enough score at the shooting range and you will get the gnome, after that just take it through the rest of Dark carnival and bring it with you into the rescue helicopter. make sure your holding it when in the helicopter.
This challenge was to take this little guy from the beginning of Half-Life 2: Episode 2 to the end of it without losing him. This addon makes that challenge harder by adding voice lines from the new Youtube series, Half-Life Alyx but the Gnome is Alive started by Youtuber WayneradioTV.
